Software Engineer, Backend (Intern)

Responsibilities

• Assist in developing and improving backend services for POI data processing, search, geocoding, and reverse geocoding systems.
• Support the parsing, cleaning, integration, and normalization of map data from multiple sources.
• Build scripts, tools, or small services to improve data processing efficiency and quality.
• Participate in experiments using Large Language Models for intelligent parsing, data generation, and workflow automation.
• Work with engineers to troubleshoot issues, improve system reliability, and optimize existing workflows.
• Follow engineering best practices, including code reviews, testing, and documentation.

Requirements

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Science, or a related field.
• Solid programming foundation in at least one language such as Python, Go, or Java.
• Good understanding of data structures, algorithms, databases, and operating systems.
• Familiarity with SQL and common database concepts.
• Basic understanding of data parsing, data cleaning, or data pipeline concepts.
• Experience using AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Copilot) to support development and the ability to critically evaluate AI-generated outputs.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with backend projects, data processing, web crawling, or automation tools.
• Interest in Large Language Models, prompt engineering, or applying AI to data workflows.
• Interest in maps, POI data, geospatial systems, or location-based services.
