Software Engineer, Autonomy

About the Company

Monumental is automating on-site construction with robotics and software. Our mission is to make construction software-defined and autonomous - a future where beautiful, bespoke buildings go up in a single day, with minimal labour.

Responsibilities

• Design and implementation of controls algorithms, both prototype quality and production quality
• Design and implement localization algorithms (e.g., visual-inertial SLAM) and sensor fusion
• Design and build tools for debugging, analysis, and performance evaluation of algorithms
• Bring software engineering best practices to the team, including production-level code
• Perform root cause analysis and general debugging
• Take full ownership of projects from idea to prototype to finished product

Requirements

• Experience implementing algorithms for calibration, motion control, and path planning of complex robotic systems
• Practical and theoretical knowledge of modelling, signal processing, motion planning, sensor fusion, and collision avoidance
• Industry experience building and deploying production systems in C, C++, Python, or Rust
• Strong software engineering skills including git, unit testing, and automated deployment
• Familiarity with Linux systems and conventions
• Experience in troubleshooting and root cause analysis
• B.Sc. in Computer Science, Mechanical, Mechatronics, Controls System Engineering or equivalent

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience building prototypes in a zero-to-one environment
• Experience in top student teams
