Software Engineer, Autonomy Integration and Deployment

About the Company

Overland AI is transforming land operations for modern defense by leveraging advanced research in robotics and machine learning. Their OverDrive autonomy stack enables ground vehicles to navigate off-road in any terrain without GPS or direct operator control.

Responsibilities

• Deploy autonomy in the real world by integrating the OverDrive stack onto hardware platforms
• Identify performance gaps in the autonomy stack and implement solutions
• Develop new behaviors, payload integrations, and novel use-cases
• Design and develop tools for efficient deployment onto robotic vehicles
• Lead field test campaigns in challenging off-road terrain
• Collaborate across the organization to bridge R&D and business development

Requirements

• Bachelor's, M.S., or Ph.D. in computer science, robotics, or a related field
• Experience with robotics systems and ROS or ROS 2
• Proficiency in C++ and Python within a Linux environment
• Analytical thinking and ability to troubleshoot through diagnostic experiments
• Ability to obtain and maintain a DOD Security Clearance
• Ability to relocate to Seattle, WA

Preferred Qualifications

• Extensive experience with ROS 2
• Experience deploying containerized software
• Ability to present technical material to nontechnical audiences
