Responsibilities

• Design and build a backend system for the Civil Aviation team to modernize air traffic control
• Solve data fusion challenges by ingesting and resolving disparate data streams from radar, flight plans, and weather systems
• Build systems that project state forward in time to enable optimization across complex constraints
• Model uncertainty and reason about data provenance and confidence
• Develop systems that degrade gracefully when inputs are incomplete or incorrect

Requirements

• Experience building production-grade backend or distributed systems
• Proficiency in at least one modern programming language
• Experience with data integration, storage, processing, and modeling systems
• Experience with AWS and cloud-native architectures
• Ability to work in complex, multi-system environments with evolving data models
• Proficiency in leveraging modern LLM tools to accelerate development

Preferred Qualifications

• Exposure to high-availability systems (e.g., "four nines" reliability)
• Domain experience in aviation, mapping, or geospatial systems
• Experience in fields where the physical world is the source of truth and data is an approximation
