Responsibilities
- Design and build a backend system for the Civil Aviation team to modernize air traffic control
- Solve data fusion challenges by ingesting and resolving disparate data streams from radar, flight plans, and weather systems
- Build systems that project state forward in time to enable optimization across complex constraints
- Model uncertainty and reason about data provenance and confidence
- Develop systems that degrade gracefully when inputs are incomplete or incorrect
Requirements
- Experience building production-grade backend or distributed systems
- Proficiency in at least one modern programming language
- Experience with data integration, storage, processing, and modeling systems
- Experience with AWS and cloud-native architectures
- Ability to work in complex, multi-system environments with evolving data models
- Proficiency in leveraging modern LLM tools to accelerate development
Preferred Qualifications
- Exposure to high-availability systems (e.g., "four nines" reliability)
- Domain experience in aviation, mapping, or geospatial systems
- Experience in fields where the physical world is the source of truth and data is an approximation
