Software Development Engineer I (Backend)

Responsibilities

• Design and develop backend systems using Java 17, leveraging modern frameworks like Spring and Spring Boot
• Build and maintain microservices with high availability, performance, and scalability
• Model relational data and optimize database interactions using MySQL
• Implement caching mechanisms using Redis
• Develop search and indexing features using Elasticsearch
• Build and expose secure, well-documented RESTful APIs
• Create serverless workflows with AWS Lambda and expose endpoints using API Gateway
• Integrate asynchronous messaging using AWS SQS, SNS, and ActiveMQ
• Use GitHub for source control, code reviews, and CI/CD processes

Requirements

• 1.5+ years of hands-on experience in Java backend development, including Java 17
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
• Proficient in Spring and Spring Boot
• Strong command of MySQL, database design, and query optimization
• Experience with Redis and Elasticsearch
• Hands-on experience with AWS (Lambda, API Gateway, SQS, SNS, EC2, S3, RDS)
• Familiarity with ActiveMQ or similar message brokers
• Excellent grasp of Data Structures, algorithms, multithreading, and system design
• Proficient in version control and collaboration using GitHub

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with containerization tools like Docker and orchestration tools like Kubernetes
• Familiarity with observability and logging tools such as Kibana and Datadog
• Knowledge of Consul for service discovery and configuration management
• Practical use of AI tools like ChatGPT and Claude AI to accelerate development
• Understanding of API security, rate limiting, and best practices for cloud deployments
