Software Developer

Responsibilities

• Maintain, troubleshoot, and improve the NextGen Classic application, including VB6 components, SQL Server databases, and Excel macros.
• Contribute to NextGen 2.0 development, including bug fixes, enhancements, APIs, and modernization work using C# and Blazor.
• Utilize AI-assisted and agentic development tools to accelerate code analysis, debugging, testing, and documentation.
• Help migrate legacy functionality into modern .NET-based services and web application components.
• Write and maintain SQL Server queries, stored procedures, and data troubleshooting tools.
• Collaborate with Product Management, QA, and Support teams to investigate issues and deliver technical solutions.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
• 3–7 years of professional software development experience.
• Proficiency in C#, .NET, Java, TypeScript, or a similar enterprise application development stack.
• Experience with relational databases, specifically SQL Server (queries, stored procedures, and troubleshooting).
• Experience with Git-based development workflows (Azure DevOps, GitHub, etc.).
• Practical experience using AI coding assistants or AI-powered development tools in a regular workflow.
• Ability to read, debug, and modify code within complex, existing legacy applications.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with C#/.NET, Blazor, WiseJ, or other Microsoft development technologies.
• Experience with legacy technologies such as Visual Basic 6, VBA, or classic ASP.
• Proven experience modernizing legacy systems into modern web or API-based architectures.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines, Microsoft Azure, IIS, or Windows Server.
• Interest in K-12 education technology, accounting, or public-sector ERP systems.
