Software Asset Management Product Owner

Responsibilities

• Define and maintain the SAM product vision, strategy, and roadmap aligned with IT, procurement, and security objectives
• Translate business needs into clear epics, features, and user stories for development and operational teams
• Prioritize the product backlog to ensure delivery of high-value features supporting compliance and lifecycle management
• Manage a team of SAM Analysts and oversee software license compliance efforts, including audit readiness
• Serve as the business owner for the SAM platform (Flexera/Snow) and ensure data integrity across integrations
• Analyze usage data to drive optimization initiatives, such as reducing dormant licenses and rationalizing applications
• Partner with procurement, finance, and cybersecurity to support budgeting, forecasting, and risk mitigation

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in IT, Business, or a related field
• 12+ years of experience in Software Asset Management (SAM), ITAM, or IT governance
• Experience managing a small team
• Hands-on experience with SAM tools, specifically Flexera or Snow
• Solid understanding of software licensing models (e.g., Microsoft, Adobe, Oracle, SAP, IBM)
• Demonstrated experience in product ownership and Agile methodologies

Preferred Qualifications

• Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO) or similar certification
• ITIL Foundation or IT Asset Management certification (e.g., CAMP, CSAM)
• Experience in complex global environments involving hybrid cloud, SaaS, and on-prem technologies
• Strong analytical skills with experience building dashboards in Power BI, Tableau, or ServiceNow
