Responsibilities

• Act as the principal author and advocate for software architecture and design specifications
• Define application frameworks and standard development processes to limit complexity
• Identify opportunities for software asset reuse across the organization
• Subdivide complex applications into manageable components and communicate dependencies to developers
• Review system design and software assets to assess efficiency, scalability, and security
• Prepare comprehensive designs, specifications, and migration plans
• Provide technical guidance to the Engineering and Data Warehouse teams
• Assess emerging technologies for suitability within the master application framework

Requirements

• B.S. in Computer Science or related field (M.S. preferred)
• Minimum 10 years of experience in senior design or architect roles
• 10+ years of experience with Unix internals, Java or .NET, XML/JSON, and RDBMS (Oracle, Postgres, or SQL Server)
• 10+ years of hands-on experience with database programming
• 5+ years of experience with web services applications, preferably RESTful designs
• Proficiency with application frameworks such as J2EE, JBOSS, Spring, Hibernate, or OSGI
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Scala or Service Oriented Architectures (SOA)
• Experience with continuous integration and automated configuration management
• Knowledge of identity/authentication frameworks (OAuth, SAML, OpenID)
• Experience with large scale data management using Hadoop or Cassandra
