Software Architect

Responsibilities

• Provide architectural and big picture oversight for the development of new or enhanced products
• Articulate architectural vision and experiment with alternative architectural approaches
• Create models, component specifications, and interface specification documents
• Validate architecture against requirements and assumptions
• Collaborate with product developers, managers, and customer experts to create software products
• Provide technical advice to other departments and integrate components built by developers
• Assist in migrating legacy tools to the cloud to advance Space Weather Forecasting capabilities

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree with 12+ years of experience in software engineering
• 6+ years of progressive software development experience
• 3+ years of experience as a Software Architect or IT Systems Architect
• Minimum Secret security clearance with ability to obtain TS/SCI
• Proficiency in Java, JavaScript, C/C++, Python, or FORTRAN
• Strong understanding of UML and DoDAF methodologies
• Experience designing modern applications for AWS Cloud environments
• U.S. Citizenship required

Preferred Qualifications

• Active TS/SCI clearance
• Recent experience with AI tools such as Claude, Copilot, IRIS, or OpenAI
• Experience supporting the U.S. Space Force or aerospace engineering systems
• AWS Certified Solutions Architect
