Software Application Support Engineer

Responsibilities

• Engineer and maintain innovative software applications and core application services
• Improve the performance, availability, scalability, and monitoring of Employee Systems
• Collaborate with development engineers on architectural design and implementation of complex features/fixes
• Provide hands-on support and coding to resolve production issues in a fast-paced environment
• Coordinate with global teams, business partners, and quality assurance to ensure high code and functional quality

Requirements

• 4+ years of experience supporting mission-critical production applications in an enterprise environment
• 3+ years of software development experience building highly scalable RESTful web services
• Deep expertise in Java development and J2EE
• Proficiency with databases including Oracle and MongoDB, including SQL and query tuning
• Proven track record in incident management and configuration/change management
• Demonstrable ability to use logical debugging methodologies to solve complex production issues

Preferred Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of SOAP, RESTful web services, and frameworks like Spring
• Experience with messaging services such as Kafka
• Proficiency with monitoring tools like Splunk, Nagios, AppDynamics, or Dynatrace
• Python development experience
• Knowledge of workflow automation systems like Temporal (Autoflow) or Flink
• Functional knowledge of HR or Payroll products (e.g., Workday, Oracle HCM, Salesforce, SAP SuccessFactors)
