About the role

Responsibilities

  • Teach sociology curriculum developed by the department in face-to-face settings at partner correctional institutions
  • Plan and organize instruction to maximize student learning for diverse populations
  • Prepare and provide syllabi in accordance with department and divisional policies
  • Employ appropriate teaching strategies and instructional technology to promote student success
  • Evaluate and return student work in a timely manner
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress and submit final grade rosters by established deadlines
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of student information

Requirements

  • Master's degree in sociology, or a master's degree with at least 18 graduate credit hours in the content area
  • Ability to teach face-to-face in a prison education setting
  • Ability to pass a DRC background check
  • Demonstrated skills in using modern educational technology and multimedia-based instruction
  • Must reside in or be able to perform work within Ohio, Indiana, or Kentucky

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior teaching experience
  • Demonstrated commitment to improving student learning through innovative instructional strategies
