About the role

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the daily operations of Railton House residential programs, ensuring compliance with accreditation standards and Correctional Services Canada requirements.
  • Lead, recruit, train, and supervise front-line residential support and kitchen staff, providing ongoing coaching and performance evaluations.
  • Manage program budgets, expenses, and financial reporting to ensure effective resource utilization.
  • Monitor and support client-focused programs including Positive Lifestyles, Community Readiness, and Client After-Care.
  • Coordinate property maintenance, building improvements, and renovations within established budget guidelines.
  • Serve as Chair of the Health and Safety Committee and develop comprehensive fire safety and disaster plans.
  • Assist clients in identifying community services and practical solutions for successful reintegration into the community.

Requirements

  • Post-secondary degree, certificate, or diploma in Social Sciences or Administration.
  • Minimum of 3 years of related experience in social services or financial program management.
  • Proven supervisory or management experience with the ability to lead and motivate teams.
  • Valid NS Class 5 Driver’s License with a satisfactory driver’s abstract.
  • First Aid/CPR Certification.
  • Non-violent crisis intervention training.
  • Ability to pass Reliability Status clearance and a vulnerable sector background check.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with case management and working with offender populations.
  • Knowledge of community-based resources and experience networking with government or social service agencies.
  • Proficiency with MO Suite or similar computer-based management programs.
