Social Media Coordinator

Responsibilities

• Create and schedule engaging content across social platforms to showcase Earth science and the Landsat Program
• Develop editorial calendars and maintain a consistent, mission-aligned voice and visual style
• Translate complex scientific topics into accessible, compelling content for diverse audiences
• Monitor social media platforms and conversations to identify engagement opportunities
• Report on performance metrics, including reach and engagement, to optimize future content strategy
• Collaborate with the Communications and Outreach team to identify priorities and content needs
• Ensure all digital content complies with plain-language best practices and USGS digital standards

Requirements

• BS in Communications, Journalism, or Marketing
• 3 years of relevant social media or communications experience
• Three years of continuous U.S. residency for the issuance of a Government Security credential
• Ability to obtain and maintain a national agency background check for facility access and user accounts

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with visual storytelling, including images, graphics, and short-form video
• Proficiency with social media management tools and analytics platforms
• Experience managing professional accounts on X, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and YouTube
• An appreciation for Earth sciences or familiarity with remote sensing and Landsat data
