Social Media and Digital Specialist

Responsibilities

• Execute the university’s official social media presence across platforms including Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, X, and LinkedIn
• Create original content including copywriting, photography, graphics, and video to support university initiatives
• Monitor social media channels daily and respond to audience engagement in a brand-appropriate manner
• Maintain brand consistency and visual identity across all digital channels
• Support the execution of digital marketing and advertising strategies
• Track key performance indicators (KPIs) and prepare reports to support data-informed decisions
• Recruit, train, and manage a student social ambassador team and student workers

Requirements

• Strong commitment to the Christian faith and the mission of Nelson University
• Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Digital Media, Business, or a related field
• 1-2 years of professional experience in marketing or digital communications
• Demonstrated hands-on experience managing social media channels for an organization or brand
• Proficiency with content creation tools such as Canva and/or Adobe Creative Suite
• Strong writing and editing skills with high attention to voice and tone
• Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a collaborative environment

Preferred Qualifications

• 3+ years of professional experience in marketing or digital communications
• Experience creating high-quality digital content, including photography and video
• Experience working with content calendars and campaign planning
• Familiarity with project management tools such as Asana
• Experience managing or supporting interns, student workers, or ambassadors
• Experience in higher education, nonprofit, or mission-driven organizations
