About the role
Responsibilities
- Lead a small group of incoming first-year and transfer students during the Plunge program
- Attend and actively participate in a two-day leadership training workshop prior to the program
- Facilitate small group activities and lead reflections throughout the week
- Travel with student groups to partner agencies via public transportation or Moreau Center vehicles
- Volunteer alongside students at local community partner agencies
- Support "behind the scenes" organizational needs as they arise during the program
- Complete post-program follow-up, including writing thank-you cards and participating in debrief sessions
Requirements
- Responsible, dependable, and able to take initiative
- Personable, welcoming, and hospitable demeanor
- Strong work ethic with the ability to work long hours in a fast-paced environment
- Demonstrated commitment to volunteering
- Demonstrated interest in issues of social justice
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous leadership experience
- Experience as a camp counselor, youth leader, or orientation leader
- Commitment to engaging Moreau Center Core Commitments
