Small Animal Internist

Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive patient exams and medical work-ups
• Manage client communication, education, and rapport building
• Maintain accurate medical records and follow controlled substance protocols
• Collaborate with the Hospital Manager on weekly priorities and expectations
• Monitor hospital protocols from intake to discharge and attend daily rounds
• Prescribe medications and manage pharmacy duties

Requirements

• DVM or VMD degree from an accredited college or university
• Completion of a 1-year rotational internship
• Completion of a 3-year, AVMA-approved residency program
• Current State Veterinary License and DEA registration
• Strong diagnostic and clinical skills
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform moderately physically demanding work

Preferred Qualifications

• Board Certification
• 2-5 years of experience post-residency
• Advanced clinical knowledge in cardiovascular, respiratory, orthopedic, or neurological examinations
• Strong problem-solving and business acumen regarding hospital management
