About the role

Responsibilities

  • Administer full polysomnography studies and detailed respiratory assessments to diagnose sleep disorders
  • Prepare patients for studies by reviewing medical history, explaining procedures, and applying monitoring devices
  • Operate, calibrate, and maintain sleep study equipment including ECG, EMG, EEG, and EOG
  • Analyze collected data and prepare reports summarizing sleep/wake stages, respiratory events, and cardiac events
  • Monitor patients during testing to identify and respond to significant clinical events or equipment malfunctions
  • Perform nCPAP/BPAP titration and supplemental oxygen administration
  • Participate in laboratory Quality Control and Quality Assurance programs

Requirements

  • Completion of a 2-year community college program in a health care discipline (e.g., respiratory therapy or electroneurophysiology technology)
  • Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT™) certification
  • Certification with the Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists (BRPT)
  • Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification
  • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification
