About the role
Responsibilities
- Administer full polysomnography studies and detailed respiratory assessments to diagnose sleep disorders
- Prepare patients for studies by reviewing medical history, explaining procedures, and applying monitoring devices
- Operate, calibrate, and maintain sleep study equipment including ECG, EMG, EEG, and EOG
- Analyze collected data and prepare reports summarizing sleep/wake stages, respiratory events, and cardiac events
- Monitor patients during testing to identify and respond to significant clinical events or equipment malfunctions
- Perform nCPAP/BPAP titration and supplemental oxygen administration
- Participate in laboratory Quality Control and Quality Assurance programs
Requirements
- Completion of a 2-year community college program in a health care discipline (e.g., respiratory therapy or electroneurophysiology technology)
- Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT™) certification
- Certification with the Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists (BRPT)
- Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification
- Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification
