Skilled Trades

Responsibilities

• Perform general repairs and replacements for damaged, deteriorated, or non-functioning conditions within University buildings and across campus
• Apply journeyman-level knowledge in carpentry, plumbing, or electrical trades
• Utilize tools, equipment, and materials according to accepted professional practices
• Maintain responsibility for tools and devices used to perform tasks
• Follow verbal and written reports and utilize the University work order system
• Work a scheduled shift of Tuesday – Saturday, 7:00 am - 3:30 pm, with occasional coverage for other shifts based on University needs

Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent
• Two years of journeyman-level experience in a trade (specific coursework may be considered toward this requirement)
• Proficiency in at least three of the following disciplines: carpentry, plumbing, electrical, or painting
• Physical ability to perform bending, heavy lifting, and climbing of ladders and stairs
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work professionally with all members of the university community, including staff, faculty, and administration
• Valid driver's license and ability to meet University requirements to drive University vehicles
