Site Safety & Health Officer (SSHO)

Responsibilities

• Prepare and implement health and safety plans for environmental and engineering projects
• Act as the onsite safety representative and primary point of contact for the duration of contracts
• Conduct daily safety and health inspections and maintain detailed written logs of hazards and corrective actions
• Lead weekly or daily tailgate safety meetings
• Perform mishap investigations and complete all required reporting
• Evaluate site results and make recommendations to maintain compliance with regulatory agencies
• Investigate and resolve all identified health and safety deficiencies

Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in health and safety operations for environmental or construction projects
• USACE EM 385-1-1 certification (including completion of the 40-hour course within the last 2 years)
• Construction Health & Safety Technician (CHST) certification
• 30-hour OSHA construction safety certification completed within the last 5 years
• 40-hour HAZWOPER Certification
• Current CPR/First-Aid certification
• United States Citizenship and ability to pass DOD security checks
• Proven ability to maintain accurate paper and electronic records

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in a related field
• Certified Safety Professional (CSP) certification
