Site Safety & Health Officer

Responsibilities

• Prepare and implement health and safety plans for environmental and engineering projects
• Act as the onsite safety representative and primary point of contact for the duration of contracts
• Conduct daily safety and health inspections and maintain detailed written logs of hazards and corrective actions
• Perform site safety analysis, observations, and mishap investigations
• Lead weekly or daily tailgate safety meetings
• Evaluate compliance with regulatory agencies and make necessary recommendations
• Investigate and resolve health and safety deficiencies on-site
• Maintain accurate paper and electronic records concerning equipment, supplies, and property

Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years of construction industry safety experience on similar projects
• Construction Health & Safety Technician (CHST) certification
• 30-hour OSHA construction safety certification (completed within the last 5 years)
• 40-hour HAZWOPER certification
• Familiarity with USACE EM 385-1-1 requirements
• Completion of the USACE EM 385-1-1 40-hour course within the last 2 years
• Current CPR/First-Aid certification
• United States Citizenship and ability to pass DOD security checks
• Average of at least 24 hours of formal safety training annually for the past 5 years

Preferred Qualifications

• Safety Trained Supervisor (STS) certification from the Board of Certified Safety Professionals
• Bachelor’s Degree
