Site Safety and Health Officer

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and administer Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) activities on dredging project locations
• Implement the WMI Accident Prevention Plan (APP) and assist in Activity Hazard Analysis (AHA) development
• Perform hazard identification, inspections, incident management, and investigations per contractual requirements
• Communicate HSE concerns to all levels of project field and office management daily
• Conduct site-specific HSE indoctrination and other applicable training sessions for project personnel
• Maintain up-to-date records, including incident reports and training documentation
• Learn and become familiar with complex dredging operations, including hydraulic cutterhead, hopper, and clamshell dredging

Requirements

• 5+ years of cumulative construction or general industry related safety experience
• OSHA 30 certification (construction or general industry)
• EM 385-1-1 40-Hour Compliance Course
• CPR/FA/AED responder’s certification
• Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC)
• Valid US Passport and Valid Driver’s License
• Ability to work a 17/11 rotational schedule (17 days on, 11 days off) with 12-hour shifts
• Ability to tolerate rough seas, vibrations, and harsh weather conditions
• Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds and navigate various job site terrains

Preferred Qualifications

• Associate or bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, or Environmental Sciences
