Simulation Engineer

About the Company

Humanoid is on a mission to build the world’s most capable, commercially-scalable, and safe humanoid robots. Their HMND-01 Alpha platform is already running in real industrial pilots.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement gym environments for manipulation tasks across industrial, service, and home settings
• Analyze and address reward hacking to produce robust behaviors
• Reduce the sim-to-real gap by tuning physics parameters and improving asset fidelity
• Work with vendors to procure and integrate high-quality 3D assets
• Ensure correct physics setup including contact dynamics, friction, and mass properties
• Identify and reduce simulation bottlenecks to maximize training throughput
• Improve simulation-based evaluation and reinforcement learning infrastructure

Requirements

• 3+ years building simulation environments or game-engine-based interactive systems
• Deep hands-on experience with physics simulators like Isaac Sim, MuJoCo, PyBullet, or Drake
• Experience with game engines such as Unreal or Unity
• Practical experience running large-scale parallel simulation on GPU clusters
• Strong Python skills including profiling and debugging
• Familiarity with modern software engineering practices

Preferred Qualifications

• Robotics or manipulation-specific experience (grasping, contact-rich tasks)
• Experience designing reward functions and training RL policies
• Experience with NVIDIA Isaac Sim & IsaacLab
• Knowledge of domain randomization or system identification
• Publications at top-tier robotics or RL conferences
• Familiarity with robocasa or robosuite frameworks
