Shop Services Technician - Coolant

Responsibilities

• Monitor and maintain coolant conditions in all machines using refractometers and PH meters
• Record daily coolant readings and take corrective actions to remedy concentration or acidity issues
• Perform machine filter replacements and service mechanical aspects of coolant systems, such as changing pumps
• Maintain coolant coalescers and mixing machines
• Conduct monthly safety checks on fire extinguishers and fire sprinkler test valves
• Manage inventory for coolant and cleaning concentrates
• Assist with general shop maintenance, including cleaning shop floors and aisle way mirrors
• Participate in Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) events and major machine repair projects
• Safely operate lifting devices such as overhead cranes, forklifts, or jib hoists as required

Requirements

• High school graduate or equivalent
• Basic mechanical ability to dismantle and reassemble simple assemblies
• Understanding of industrial instrumentation and control
• Basic knowledge of chemistry (understanding concentrations, acidity, and alkalinity)
• Ability to consistently lift 40 lbs
• Ability to work on ladders up to 35 ft and lift platforms up to 30 ft high
• Self-motivated with the ability to work without direct supervision

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience in a machine shop environment
• Experience working with cutting fluids and their makeup
