Shipping/Packer

Responsibilities

• Pack and re-pack a wide variety of materials in accordance with military standards, DOD Manuals, and regulatory requirements.
• Identify, examine, classify, and dispose of materials according to DLA regulations.
• Ensure all materials are properly preserved, packaged, marked, and labeled prior to shipping.
• Select appropriate containers and cushioning to protect items from damage during transit.
• Conduct basic inspection and examination procedures for incoming and outgoing material.
• Operate Material Handling Equipment (MHE) to load and unload material from skids, pallets, and vehicles.
• Input data into automated systems and prepare basic reports, including counting, weighing, and labeling.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED required (experience may be substituted for education).
• Minimum of three months of general work experience.
• Ability to obtain a Material Handling Equipment (MHE) license within 30 days of hire.
• Ability to pass and maintain a security clearance.
• Physical ability to lift and carry up to 45 pounds and perform tasks involving stooping, bending, and kneeling.
• Ability to work in a shop environment that may include loud noise, fumes, or varying weather conditions.
