Shipping Packer

Responsibilities

• Pack and re-pack a wide variety of materials in accordance with military standards and regulatory requirements
• Identify, examine, classify, and dispose of material per DLA regulations
• Ensure material is properly preserved, packaged, marked, and labeled prior to shipping
• Select appropriate container sizes and cushioning to prevent damage during transit
• Conduct basic inspection and examination procedures for materials
• Operate Material Handling Equipment (MHE) to load and unload skids, pallets, and vehicles
• Input data into automated systems and prepare basic reports
• Count, weight, and record data while preparing and applying necessary tags and labels

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED (experience may be substituted for education)
• Minimum of 3 months of general work experience
• Ability to lift and carry up to 45 pounds
• Ability to obtain a Material Handling Equipment (MHE) license within 30 days of selection
• Ability to pass and maintain a security clearance
• Ability to pass training requirements for HAZMAT certification if required
