About the role
Responsibilities
- Plan, organize, and supervise shipping activities and manage a team of 10 to 15 employees.
- Coordinate shipping personnel, including load distribution and priority tracking.
- Manage inventory levels based on production needs and plan stock replenishment to avoid shortages.
- Collaborate with transport coordinators to plan shipment size and composition, communicating with drivers and logistics partners.
- Resolve shipping issues and analyze root causes of errors to propose sustainable solutions.
- Ensure compliance with ISO standards for the warehouse and outdoor yard.
- Implement continuous improvement initiatives aligned with lean manufacturing principles.
- Train staff on tasks, safety standards, and company policies.
- Manage human resources within the department according to the collective agreement, including performance evaluations and disciplinary actions.
- Ensure strict adherence to occupational health and safety standards.
Requirements
- DEP in logistics, transport, operations management, or a related field (AEC/DEC in industrial management is also accepted).
- 3 to 5 years of experience in shipping or logistics.
- 2+ years of supervisory experience.
- Knowledge of the manufacturing sector.
- Bilingualism in French and English.
- Proficiency in shipping and receiving operations (order preparation, packaging, loading, documentation).
- Ability to operate material handling equipment such as forklifts and pallet jacks.
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of ERP software (e.g., SAP, JD Edwards, Genius).
- Knowledge of international trade.
- Experience with heavy or volumetric agricultural equipment.
- Knowledge of transport standards (road, LTL, oversized loads).
