Shift Supervisor, Custodial Operations

Responsibilities

• Lead the overnight custodial team to ensure campus facilities are clean, orderly, and attractive.
• Serve as the Manager on Duty for Facilities during the third shift, acting as the primary contact for routine operational questions and emergencies.
• Monitor task performance to ensure compliance with quality standards and identify service improvements.
• Train, coach, and supervise custodial staff, ensuring compliance with department policies and contractual obligations.
• Manage inventory and the cost-effective acquisition of housekeeping and campus materials.
• Maintain accurate and timely S.D.S. records and perform regular daily inspections of campus spaces.
• Coordinate room event management, including the setup and breakdown of equipment for special events.

Requirements

• 2 years of progressive custodial supervisor experience at an institution of higher education or a facility of similar size and scope.
• Experience managing union employees within the parameters of a collective bargaining agreement.
• Proficiency with MS Office and experience using CMMS systems.
• Knowledge of OSHA, SDS, RIDEM, and APPA standards.
• Ability to work independently and serve as essential personnel, including potential off-shift hours or callbacks during emergencies.

Preferred Qualifications

• Two or more years of post-secondary education.
• Prior experience with snow removal.
