About the role

Responsibilities

  • Supervise shift teams of Operating Engineers to ensure the safe and efficient operation of campus mechanical, heating, and cooling systems
  • Monitor campus facilities via Siemens, Delta, and Johnson Controls building management systems (BMS) to provide remedial action for incidents and failures
  • Assign and oversee duties related to the maintenance and inspection of equipment under Power Engineer, Boiler, Pressure Vessel, and Refrigeration Safety Regulations
  • Investigate reactive work orders and "too hot/too cold" calls, utilizing the enterprise maintenance management system (Planon) to engage trade crews
  • Document all work activities, critical equipment failures, and lockout/tagout procedures in the Operations Centre Logbook
  • Ensure compliance with Technical Safety BC (TSBC), the BC Building Code, and WorkSafeBC regulations

Requirements

  • BC 4th Class Power Engineer Certificate of Competency
  • 5 years of experience in a building mechanical systems environment
  • Valid B.C. Class 5 driver’s license
  • Commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion in the workplace

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of building operations including BAS, HVAC, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire/life safety systems
  • Experience with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS)
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to supervise, allocate, and direct the work of technical crews
  • Excellent troubleshooting, organizational, and communication skills
  • Ability to maintain detailed records and draft operational reports
