Washington State Basic Law Enforcement Academy graduate, No law enforcement separation exceeding 5 years, Completed Field Training program, High School Diploma or G.E.D., Minimum age 21, Valid driver's license, US Citizenship or Lawful Permanent Resident, English proficiency
About the role
Responsibilities
- Patrol designated areas of the County in a police patrol vehicle or on foot to deter and discover crime
- Perform on-scene investigations at crime scenes and gather evidence
- Respond to reports of possible crime and secure scenes as required
- Enforce traffic and parking ordinances and investigate vehicle collisions
- Serve warrants of arrest and arrest persons on misdemeanor and felony charges
- Issue citations to violators of state laws and County ordinances
- Locate and interview victims, witnesses, and suspects
- Complete necessary incident, arrest, and investigation reports using computer technology
- Serve various civil processes issued by the courts, including subpoenas and writs
- Administer emergency first aid and coordinate assistance at collision scenes
- Testify in court regarding investigations and evidence
Requirements
- Graduate of the Washington State Basic Law Enforcement Academy (or equivalent accepted by the CJTC)
- No period of separation from law enforcement exceeding five (5) years
- Successful completion of a bona fide Field Training program
- High School Diploma or G.E.D.
- Minimum age of 21 years at the time of appointment
- Valid driver's license
- United States Citizenship or Lawful Permanent Resident status
- Proficiency in reading and writing the English language
- Ability to pass a thorough background investigation, including drug screen, polygraph, and psychological evaluation
- Ability to pass a Physical Abilities Test (PAT)
