About the role
Responsibilities
- Clean shelter rooms, washrooms, kitchens, lounges, and common areas
- Pack client belongings and prepare beds and rooms for new residents
- Monitor the environment and residents to ensure safety, security, and adherence to policies
- Provide laundry services for the shelter and its clients
- Ensure safe storage and recording of prescribed medications
- Act as a positive role model by developing professional relationships that promote dignity and respect
- Assist with cooking, light food preparation, and serving clients at mealtimes
- Conduct required shift change procedures and maintain shelter logs and documentation
- Maintain entries in the HFIS database
- Provide orientation to new clients and respond to emergency issues as a team member
Requirements
- Certificate in First Aid and CPR Training
- Non-Violent Crises Intervention Training
- Naloxone Training
- Ability to relate to and engage with marginalized people
- Ability and willingness to undergo successful background checks, including the Salvation Army Abuse Registry
