About the role
Responsibilities
- Design and teach the BTC1899H Digital Health Technology course, focusing on commercialization, regulation, and design.
- Prepare and deliver course content, including lectures on human factor engineering and usability analysis.
- Manage all aspects of course administration, including developing and marking assignments, tests, and exams.
- Provide student support through office hours and email communication.
- Supervise student teams during independent study projects focused on digital technology creation.
- Calculate and submit final grades and manage course readings.
Requirements
- PhD in the life sciences.
- Proven industry experience in the healthcare sector (hospital or private sector).
- University teaching experience in accredited courses at a recognized institution.
- Experience with US or Canadian medical device regulation, either through industry practice or academic research (including life science software).
Preferred Qualifications
- Demonstrated excellence in teaching this specific course or similar university-level content.
- Experience with courses focused on biotechnology management.
- Experience with entrepreneurship.
- Prior advancement to the rank of Sessional Lecturer II or III.
