Service Tooling Engineer

Responsibilities

• Design tooling, fixtures, and equipment in 3D CAD to meet load, ergonomic, and durability requirements for field use
• Build and test prototypes to validate design fit, function, and ease of use for non-engineers
• Generate accurate 2D drawings using GD&T per ASME Y14.5 for internal fabrication or external vendors
• Partner with Service and Commercial Operations teams to translate field needs into engineering requirements
• Work with internal machine shops and external contractors to source and manufacture tooling
• Inspect first articles, support field trials, and iterate on designs based on real-world feedback
• Maintain clear documentation including BOMs, assembly instructions, and maintenance guides

Requirements

• 2–5 years of experience in mechanical engineering or tooling/fixture design
• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a similar field
• Proficiency in 3D CAD software
• Hands-on experience designing and building prototypes
• Familiarity with fabrication methods including sheet metal, welding, machining, and 3D printing
• Strong communication skills and a pragmatic approach to problem-solving

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience designing service tooling, ground support equipment, or maintenance fixtures
• Background in automotive, aerospace, or heavy equipment service environments
• Experience working with contract manufacturers or fabrication shops
• Exposure to robotics, electromechanical systems, or complex assemblies
