About the role

Responsibilities

  • Perform field service, inspection, testing, maintenance, and repair of Ballast Water Treatment Systems (BWTS) on seagoing vessels.
  • Ensure equipment operates in compliance with IMO and USCG regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct mechanical and electrical troubleshooting to identify and resolve system malfunctions.
  • Perform scheduled preventive maintenance on filtration units, UV reactors, electrolysis systems, and control panels.
  • Calibrate instruments and validate system performance to maintain accuracy and reliability.
  • Provide technical support to vessel crews and ship operators both remotely and on-site.
  • Maintain detailed service records, including work performed, parts used, and customer interactions.
  • Collaborate with project management and technical specialists to plan and execute service jobs.

Requirements

  • Diploma or Bachelor's degree in engineering or a relevant vocational qualification.
  • 3-5 years of experience in a similar field service or marine engineering role.
  • Strong knowledge of BWTS technologies (e.g., UV treatment, electro-chlorination) and commissioning processes.
  • Proficiency in mechanical and electrical troubleshooting and the ability to interpret technical drawings and schematics.
  • Familiarity with the IMO BWMS Code and marine industry safety standards.
  • Fluency in English (verbal and written); Dutch language skills are a plus.
  • Valid EU driving license (Type B).
  • Medically fit for offshore assignments and working at heights.
  • Willingness to travel extensively and work flexible hours based on vessel schedules.
