Service and Justice Coordinator

Responsibilities

• Plan, promote, and lead 1-2 service opportunities each semester
• Collaborate with co-SJCs and other campus or community groups to lead 1-2 social justice engagement events per semester
• Engage in semesterly planning sessions with all MCSJ student leaders
• Attend weekly one-on-one meetings with the Program Manager for advising and support
• Create and execute events throughout the academic year focused on student-selected social justice themes
• Dedicate weekly time to event planning, creating marketing materials, campus tabling, and outreach
• Serve as a small group leader for major campus events such as MLK Day On and the National Racial Day of Healing

Requirements

• Enthusiasm for inviting and engaging peers in social justice learning and community engagement
• Desire to deepen understanding of personal identity and its intersections with social justice
• Eagerness to engage with Portland community partners through service and solidarity
• Openness to facilitating critical reflection with peers
• Collaborative mindset and a desire to work with UP clubs, staff, and community partners
• Curious learner with a growth mindset

Preferred Qualifications

• Ability to communicate effectively in both verbal and written formats
• Experience leading groups or facilitating discussions
• Experience with event planning and coordination
• Experience using social media and online platforms for outreach
