Server Operations Engineer II

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot server and network hardware, including fiber/optic cables, optics, and hardware components
• Manage the lifecycle of circuit move, add, change, and disconnection (MACD) orders
• Facilitate physical layer installation of server and network cabling according to cabling matrices
• Maintain and improve server, circuit, and spares inventory databases
• Coordinate with vendors, equipment providers, and data centers to manage delivery schedules and site access
• Document all implementations, changes, and technical processes using JIRA and internal documentation
• Participate in an on-call rotation for ad-hoc troubleshooting

Requirements

• 2+ years of experience in data center or enterprise IT infrastructure
• Knowledge of ITIL best practices and equipment lifecycle processes
• Experience with fiber optics, DWDM/CWDM devices, and network interface types
• Proficiency with Linux/Unix command-line and switch OS CLI
• Strong troubleshooting skills across technical, logistical, and process domains
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills for providing remote technical guidance

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience leading or coordinating junior field technicians, engineers, or vendors
• Relevant certifications such as Server+, Network+, A+, CDCTP, or CDCPM
• Ability to proactively mitigate project-impacting risks
