About the role
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with external partners to optimize performance of autonomous driving sensors (lidar, radar, camera, ultrasonics)
- Analyze on-road data to understand sensor performance trends and prioritize debugging
- Develop and execute hands-on sensor tests to define vehicle architecture
- Develop sensor field of view requirements and test new vehicle platforms
- Research and evaluate latest autonomous-driving sensor technology
- Assist with sensor integration onto vehicles and debug issues
- Manage relationships with contract manufacturers, suppliers, and external partners
- Work with perception teams to solve sensor performance issues
- Travel up to 15% to field locations for testing
Requirements
- BS or MS in Physics, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Robotics, or related field
- 5 years of experience in automotive, aerospace, or related industries
- Experience defining autonomous-driving sensing systems or specific sensing modalities
- Proven ability to lead projects and drive results
- Experience with product development from early stages (zero to one)
- Hands-on experience with hardware and manufacturing processes
- Strong documentation and communication skills
- Ability to lead cross-functional design reviews
