About the role

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with external partners to optimize performance of autonomous driving sensors (lidar, radar, camera, ultrasonics)
  • Analyze on-road data to understand sensor performance trends and prioritize debugging
  • Develop and execute hands-on sensor tests to define vehicle architecture
  • Develop sensor field of view requirements and test new vehicle platforms
  • Research and evaluate latest autonomous-driving sensor technology
  • Assist with sensor integration onto vehicles and debug issues
  • Manage relationships with contract manufacturers, suppliers, and external partners
  • Work with perception teams to solve sensor performance issues
  • Travel up to 15% to field locations for testing

Requirements

  • BS or MS in Physics, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Robotics, or related field
  • 5 years of experience in automotive, aerospace, or related industries
  • Experience defining autonomous-driving sensing systems or specific sensing modalities
  • Proven ability to lead projects and drive results
  • Experience with product development from early stages (zero to one)
  • Hands-on experience with hardware and manufacturing processes
  • Strong documentation and communication skills
  • Ability to lead cross-functional design reviews

  • Software experience for data analysis
