About the role

About the Company

Neptune Medical is an innovative, venture capital funded medical device startup headquartered in Burlingame, CA. The team is building Triton Robotic Endoscopy, a fully flexible medical robot designed to disrupt flexible endoscopy and set new standards in clinical outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Lead system design discussions to provide design input to hardware and software teams
  • Frame analysis and experimental approaches to drive answers to unstructured design questions
  • Prototype solutions in both software and hardware
  • Integrate software and hardware and test the integrated system in clinically relevant conditions
  • Lead system risk analysis and product requirements definition
  • Support clinical development labs while learning the clinical use case

Requirements

  • B.S., M.S. or Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or similar
  • 4-12 years of hands-on experience in robotics or complex electromechanical systems
  • Expertise in mechatronics and robotics fundamentals (kinematics, system dynamics, sensors, and actuators)
  • Proficiency in Python or Matlab for scripting and data analysis
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced startup environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Robot Operating System (ROS)
  • Embedded or real-time programming in C, RUST, or C++
  • Depth in mechanical design, electrical design, or system dynamics and controls
  • Experience managing projects or leading small technical teams
  • Knowledge of formal system Verification and Validation (V&V) procedures
  • Experience in a regulated medical device environment
  • Experience working with healthcare providers in hospital environments
  • Experience using data science techniques for actionable recommendations
