Senior/Staff Software Engineer, Android

Responsibilities

• Design and build Suno’s Android app across creation, discovery, playback, and social experiences
• Create foundational abstractions and libraries for performant, highly interactive media experiences
• Own feature development from zero to one and beyond
• Collaborate closely with product and design to shape the feel, flow, and direction of the app
• Optimize for performance, responsiveness, and delight
• Instrument and monitor the app’s health and iterate based on real user data
• Set technical direction and define architectural patterns for the Android platform
• Mentor engineers and raise the bar for code quality and engineering culture

Requirements

• 5+ years shipping production Android apps
• Advanced expertise in Kotlin and modern Android development frameworks
• Experience building fluid, polished animations and translating design prototypes to code
• Strong understanding of Android-specific capabilities for media-rich applications
• Proficiency in performance profiling, benchmarking, and fixing UI, memory, and network efficiency
• Ability to work with ambiguity and make technical tradeoffs
• Strong collaborative and communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior experience with ExoPlayer and Media3
• Experience with audio streaming pipelines or real-time audio on Android
• Experience with social product features like feeds and notifications
• Background designing or consuming mobile-first APIs
• Track record building 0→1 consumer products at startups
• Technical leadership or mentorship experience
• A genuine love of music
