About the role
Responsibilities
- Coordinate and plan all mechanical systems outages across the Sandia NM site to ensure safe and efficient execution.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Mechanical and Electrical engineers, fire protection, security, and operations, to align outage schedules.
- Develop, review, and maintain detailed outage procedures to support safe system shutdowns and start-ups.
- Communicate proactively with building operations, occupants, and maintenance teams to minimize operational impact and maintain mission continuity.
- Monitor and track outage progress, addressing issues promptly to maintain schedule and safety standards.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant safety regulations, site policies, and industry best practices.
- Facilitate post-outage reviews and lessons learned sessions to improve future planning processes.
- Maintain accurate documentation and records related to outage planning, approvals, and execution.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a relevant discipline.
- 5+ years of directly related experience demonstrating the ability to perform the duties of the job.
- Experience coordinating mechanical outages or maintenance activities in a large, complex facility or industrial environment.
- Ability to obtain and maintain an active DOE Q-level security clearance (requires U.S. citizenship).
- Ability to work onsite in Albuquerque, NM.
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with mechanical safety standards, procedure development, and outage management processes.
- Knowledge of mechanical systems including HVAC, chilled water plants, and hydronic heating water systems.
- Experience working in a mission-critical or high-reliability environment.
- Experience within a facilities management and maintenance organization.
- Familiarity with NNSA, DOE, or other federal government requirements.
- Strong organizational and communication skills for managing schedules and technical documentation.
