Senior/Principal Scientist

Responsibilities

• Support innovative efforts in developing gene therapy vectors
• Manage a team of 2-4 scientists ranging from Research Associate to Associate Scientist levels
• Provide day-to-day support for vector development team operations, including vector design, research records, and inventory management
• Manage vector development activities using project management tools like SmartSheet to ensure timelines and milestone delivery
• Manage external and internal collaboration activities
• Scope open-source resources to identify technologies addressing limitations in non-viral gene therapy vector delivery
• Establish novel development and manufacturing procedures for scalable production of next-generation DNA and RNA payloads

Requirements

• PhD in biological sciences (Genetics, Biochemistry, Molecular and Cellular Biology, or related field)
• Minimum 6+ years of experience in an industry setting
• 2-4 years of experience managing a research team in a high-pace small biotech environment
• Demonstrated success in developing potent and safe gene therapy payloads for viral and non-viral delivery
• Strong working knowledge of enzymatic and cell-based nucleic acid manufacturing processes
• Extensive experience in literature mining and designing DNA- and RNA-based gene therapy payloads
• Proficiency in Geneious, Benchling, and SmartSheet
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Familiarity with gene editing technologies
• Experience with high throughput screening technologies
