Senior/Principal R&D Mechanical Engineer

Responsibilities

• Execute Rapid System Integration projects for advanced reentry vehicles within the Future Nuclear Deterrent Systems Engineering department
• Demonstrate new methods of design, build, and test to increase readiness for urgent system needs
• Perform CAD modeling, GD&T, and design for manufacturing
• Conduct test planning, documentation, execution, data collection, and reporting
• Perform aero and structural analysis, including loads, bolted interfaces, thermal/radiation, and fluids
• Manage environmental testing including flight body qualification, shock, vibration, and combined environments
• Utilize additive manufacturing, qualification, and testing techniques

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant engineering discipline
• Five (5) years of directly relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
• Active DOE Q level security clearance or equivalent (must be a U.S. citizen)
• Ability to work onsite in Albuquerque, NM

Preferred Qualifications

• Graduate degree in Mechanical Engineering or a highly related field
• Experience with mechanical engineering and product realization in the NNSA complex
• Proficiency with ANSYS or Solidworks (particularly FEA analysis)
• Experience with MATLAB or similar engineering-based simulation/programming tools
• Direct experience designing nuclear weapon electronics or knowledge of the nuclear weapon qualification process
