About the role
Responsibilities
- Build strong, professional, and trusting relationships with children and young people through active engagement
- Provide daily care, supervision, transport, and support within a residential care setting
- Support routines, transitions, and activities that promote development, resilience, and independence
- Respond to pain-based behaviours using trauma-informed practice and Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI)
- Provide leadership, guidance, and mentoring to youth workers to ensure high-quality care
- Work alongside the House Manager to implement routines, manage incidents, and attend care team meetings
- Maintain accurate documentation, incident reports, and compliance with HSE policies and procedures
Requirements
- Certificate IV in Child, Youth and Family Intervention (Residential Care) or working towards it
- Experience working with children or young people with complex trauma and challenging behaviours
- Strong understanding of child development, attachment, and trauma-informed practice
- Current driver's licence
- Senior First Aid Certificate and CPR Certification
- Ability to clear probity checks, including National Criminal History and Working with Children Checks
