Senior Youth Worker

Responsibilities

• Build strong, professional, and trusting relationships with children and young people through active engagement
• Provide daily care, supervision, transport, and support within a residential care setting
• Support routines, transitions, and activities that promote development, resilience, and independence
• Respond to pain-based behaviours using trauma-informed practice and Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI)
• Provide leadership, guidance, and mentoring to youth workers to ensure high-quality care
• Work alongside the House Manager to implement routines, manage incidents, and attend care team meetings
• Maintain accurate documentation, incident reports, and compliance with HSE policies and procedures

Requirements

• Certificate IV in Child, Youth and Family Intervention (Residential Care) or working towards it
• Experience working with children or young people with complex trauma and challenging behaviours
• Strong understanding of child development, attachment, and trauma-informed practice
• Current driver's licence
• Senior First Aid Certificate and CPR Certification
• Ability to clear probity checks, including National Criminal History and Working with Children Checks
