About the role

Responsibilities

  • Own workforce governance, employment compliance, and regulatory risk programs across the People organization
  • Design and operate frameworks, standards, and controls for workforce-related legal and regulatory obligations
  • Maintain enterprise standards for worker classification across various populations
  • Manage I-9 and E-Verify programs end-to-end, including vendor management and audits
  • Oversee background screening, adverse action processes, and drug and alcohol testing programs
  • Coordinate regulatory filings such as EEO-1, VETS-4212, and California Pay Data reporting
  • Partner with Legal and Benefits to ensure leave law compliance (FMLA, ADA)
  • Support pay equity, wage and hour, and compensation compliance oversight
  • Maintain employee data privacy, records governance, and data retention standards
  • Establish governance standards for the use of AI and automated decision-making tools in People programs
  • Serve as the primary liaison for People-related internal and external audits

Requirements

  • 7+ years in workforce, employment, or HR compliance operations
  • Direct ownership of I-9/E-Verify, background screening, and/or drug testing programs
  • Deep knowledge of FCRA, E-Verify, FLSA classification, and federal/state employment law
  • Experience managing compliance in multi-state, high-growth environments
  • Hands-on audit experience including preparing evidence and closing findings
  • Familiarity with contingent workforce compliance and worker classification risks
  • Experience managing compliance vendors
  • Working knowledge of employee data privacy requirements (CCPA, GDPR)
  • Familiarity with AI governance in HR contexts

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with SOX-level controls or highly regulated industries
  • Experience supporting government contracts
  • Experience building new compliance programs from scratch in scaling organizations
  • Experience governing HR technology vendors with AI-driven features
