Responsibilities

Build custom themes from Figma/Adobe XD mock-ups using Gutenberg blocks and React/JSX
Create and extend plugins using OOP PHP and WordPress APIs
Maintain and refactor legacy themes and plugins for performance and security
Determine optimal hosting, caching, and CI/CD workflows
Implement database-efficient queries and object caching
Conduct Core Web Vitals audits to deliver sub-2s load times
Harden WordPress installs and manage regular updates, backups, and disaster recovery
Integrate third-party APIs, payment gateways, and CRM/Marketing platforms
Participate in sprint planning, code reviews, and mentor junior developers
Write technical documentation and coordinate automated/manual testing

Requirements

4–7 years of professional WordPress development experience
Strong proficiency in PHP 8+, MySQL/MariaDB, HTML5, CSS3/Sass, and JavaScript (ES6+, jQuery, React basics)
Experience with Gutenberg block development and modern tooling like Webpack, Vite, or npm/Yarn
Deep understanding of WordPress hooks, WP-CLI, Composer, and REST API
Proven track record of optimizing Core Web Vitals and Lighthouse scores
Proficiency with Git version control and GitHub/GitLab code reviews
Comfort with Linux/Unix and Nginx/Apache administration
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or equivalent practical experience
Strong English communication skills

Exposure to headless CMS architectures such as Next.js, Gatsby, or Astro
WooCommerce customization and performance tuning
Experience with containerized environments like Docker or Kubernetes
Familiarity with DevOps pipelines (GitHub Actions, Jenkins, Bitbucket Pipelines)
Knowledge of accessibility standards (WCAG 2.1 AA)
