About the role
Responsibilities
- Oversee regular vulnerability scanning using industry tools such as Tenable, Qualys, or Rapid7
- Identify, prioritize, and communicate security vulnerabilities to IT teams responsible for remediation
- Determine vulnerability applicability based on risk, exploitability, and business impact
- Build and leverage relationships to influence IT teams to patch vulnerabilities and increase security awareness
- Automate vulnerability management processes to create operational efficiencies
- Consolidate vulnerabilities from various security tools into an orchestration platform
- Partner with internal security teams including Threat Intel, Forensics, Incident Response, and GRC
- Monitor threat intelligence sources to identify emerging vulnerabilities and risks
- Validate remediation efforts through re-scanning and testing
- Maintain asset inventory alignment to ensure comprehensive scan coverage
- Develop and maintain vulnerability management policies, standards, and procedures
Requirements
- 12–16 years of experience working specifically in a vulnerability management role
- 5+ years of experience in cybersecurity with leadership experience in vulnerability management activities
- Master’s degree in Computer Science, Cyber Security, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
- Hands-on experience with vulnerability scanning tools
- Deep understanding of CVSS scoring, remediation techniques, and OWASP
- Proven experience in security operations, risk management, or vulnerability management
- Understanding of Threat and Risk driven Vulnerability Management
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience scanning virtual machines, on-premises servers, workstations (Mac/Windows), and network devices
- Ability to lead during zero-day or emergency vulnerability events
- Excellent communication skills to translate technical issues for non-technical stakeholders
- Ability to influence without authority and work effectively within a team environment
- Relevant certifications such as CISSP, GCIA, GCDA, GSOC, or GCIH
