Senior Vice President, Government & Community Relations

Responsibilities

• Set operational standards, goals, and strategic initiatives for the Government & Community Relations department
• Supervise staff to develop and implement political and community-sensitive development strategies
• Build and enhance external relationships with stakeholders and elected officials
• Collaborate with business units to secure necessary public approvals for projects
• Manage and coach employees, providing ongoing performance feedback
• Ensure NYCEDC priorities align with the Office of the Mayor
• Enhance company image through effective community outreach
• Prepare project briefs for budget meetings and facilitate inter-agency communication

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in communications, journalism, political science, marketing, or related field
• At least 10 years of relevant professional experience in political campaigns, journalism, government affairs, or public relations
• Extensive experience with New York City land use and public approval processes
• Experience with New York City and New York State legislative and budget processes
• Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and manage direct reports
• Strong negotiation, public speaking, and writing skills
• Experience building coalitions among diverse interest groups
• Must reside in New York City within 180 days of hire
