Senior Vibrations Engineer

Responsibilities

• Define, process, and interpret static and dynamic ground test and flight data
• Perform sensor selection, data acquisition, and validation
• Determine environments including Random Vibration, Shock, Quasi-Static, Acoustic, Pressure, and Thermal
• Perform dynamic simulations such as Modal, Acoustic, Random vibration, Sine harmonic, and Transient
• Define test requirements and support testing of vehicle subsystems
• Validate and document structural analyses of primary and secondary launch vehicle structures
• Conduct finite element model verification and validation
• Perform material selection, trade-off studies, and mass optimization
• Implement new theory and tools and establish best practices in dynamics
• Conduct peer reviews of analyses and mentor junior engineers

Requirements

• 7+ years of industry experience in Aerospace, Automotive, or Marine industries
• Strong physics-based approach to problem solving
• Demonstrated experience with vibration and shock testing
• Experience with sensor selection and data post-processing (accelerometers, strain gauges, thermocouples)
• Experience with static and dynamic structural test methods (Modal, Acoustic, Random vibration, Sine burst, Force notching, Shock, Fixture evaluation)
• Expertise in engineering programming and data analysis, specifically Python
• Experience with structural FEA packages (Femap/NX Nastran, Simcenter/NX Nastran, Abaqus, or Optistruct/Hyperworks)
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Expertise in vibroacoustic modelling
• Familiarity with manufacturing processes including conventional and additive manufacturing
• Experience using NX CAD and Teamcenter
