About the role

Responsibilities

  • Collect design requirements from multidisciplinary teams to create valve and actuator concepts
  • Design components for the Nova launch vehicle using Siemens NX CAD
  • Perform structural analysis using hand calculations and FEA software
  • Perform fluids analysis using hand calculations and CFD software
  • Create manufacturing planning and participate in builds on the production floor
  • Create procedures and execute acceptance, development, and qualification testing
  • Coordinate with suppliers for part procurement
  • Incorporate design for manufacturing best practices
  • Work with vehicle fluids, engines, and GNC teams to troubleshoot hardware issues

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering
  • 5+ years of experience in design, build, and testing of valves for aerospace or industrial applications
  • Hands-on experience in fabrication and assembly of components
  • Strong fundamentals in compressible flow, thermodynamics, structures, control systems, cryogenics, and instrumentation
  • Understanding of revision-controlled P&IDs
  • Understanding of aerospace standard fasteners, seals, tubing, and fittings

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proficiency with instrumentation (pressure transducers, thermocouples, load cells, etc.)
  • Proficiency with fluid analysis tools like Siemens AMESim, REFPROP, Excel, or Matlab
  • Proficiency in GD&T, tolerance stackups, and material selection
  • Extensive experience with Siemens NX and Teamcenter
