Senior Underwriter, Life Sciences

Responsibilities

• Drive financial performance of an assigned book of business, focusing on rate, growth, profit, and retention.
• Manage risk selection, analysis, and pricing for Life Sciences products, including Package, Umbrella, Workers Compensation, Automobile, and International coverages.
• Solicit new business and manage renewals through active account analysis and documentation.
• Negotiate coverage, pricing, and financial terms with new and existing customers, agents, and brokers.
• Build and maintain strong professional relationships with agents and brokers to develop effective business plans.
• Collaborate with internal teams, including underwriting associates, claims examiners, and loss control representatives.
• Utilize agency travel to build a robust prospect pipeline and develop the technical expertise of underwriting associates.

Requirements

• 2+ years of commercial lines underwriting experience.
• Strong sales, marketing, and negotiation skills.
• Proven ability in complex account analysis, prioritization, and organization.
• Demonstrated excellence in written and oral communication.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other business-related software.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience.

Preferred Qualifications

• Direct experience in Life Sciences underwriting.
• Proven track record of building strong business relationships with agents and insureds.
