Senior Underwriter Financial Institutions

Responsibilities

• Evaluate, accept, or decline new business, renewals, and endorsements within assigned authority and corporate guidelines.
• Manage complex underwriting processes, including handwritten business, multi-location risks, captives, and reinsurance structures.
• Lead meetings with brokers and clients to manage high-level relationships and business development.
• Refer risks outside of authority levels to the appropriate management tier.
• Place facultative reinsurance and initiate the document issuance process.
• Support management with profitability analysis, market trends, and competitor research.
• Train and mentor junior underwriters.
• Participate in strategic design meetings for assigned portfolios and channels.

Requirements

• University degree in Engineering, Economics, Law, Actuarial Science, or Administration.
• 4 to 6 years of experience in the insurance industry, specifically within the Financial Institutions line of business.
• Advanced proficiency in English and native-level Spanish.
• Proven experience with complex underwriting (handwritten, multi-location, captives, and reinsurance structures).
• Strong negotiation, influence, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Ability to work under pressure and demonstrate resilience in a fast-paced environment.
